Moving from Lower Queen Anne, the Cushing Terrell Seattle team joins other companies committed to the reoccupation and revitalization of downtown Seattle. Needing to accommodate a growing staff and adapt to changing workplace expectations, the team, led by Associate Director Chris Aageson, recently moved into the seventh floor of the Agen Warehouse building – listed at the National Register of Historic Places – at 1201 Western Avenue.

Originally built in 1910, the former industrial warehouse sits in the midst of Seattle’s waterfront growth and redevelopment. Cushing Terrell’s penthouse workspace, added as part of a 1980s renovation, offers sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

“We love that our interior design team got to show off their talents in our own workspace,” Aageson said. “They created not only a beautiful space for our team, but a space that caters to a new way of working. It will be a pleasure to share this view and this versatile office with colleagues, clients and community organizations. We look forward to hosting visitors and events and enjoying warm afternoons on the rooftop terrace.

In response to the adoption of a flexible work policy, Cushing Terrell’s new workspace emphasizes agency through a variety of spaces and amenities. What were once private offices overlooking the Sound have been converted into what is now a large kitchen, dining room and break room allowing all team members to share the view and also serving as a space scenic event. Meeting rooms of various sizes, a “living room” and a private roof terrace also define the intentionally dynamic and adaptable design of the office. The tenant improvement project was carried out in partnership with Abbott Construction.
