Person injured in downtown Seattle shooting found with handgun and narcotics

Police are investigating a reported shooting Wednesday afternoon on 3rd Avenue and Pike Street in downtown Seattle.

According to police, the 31-year-old victim and the suspect got into an argument around 2 p.m. and escalated into a shootout. It appears that an acquaintance of the victim fired back at the suspect.

Officers said one person was found with a gunshot wound to the hip. When police began to treat the victim, they discovered he was carrying a handgun and had a fanny pack containing narcotics.

Police said the victim was a convicted felon and not licensed to carry a firearm. Police seized 14 grams of heroin, three grams of methamphetamine and 82 fentanyl tablets from the victim.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting. They did not provide any information on a suspect.
