The Downtown Management District is ready to bring people back to the heart of the city this Christmas, with plans for a holiday light experience – Winter Wanderland – on Bagby Street from November 19 to January 19. 2.

On November 19, Bagby, between Lamar and Franklin streets, will shine with more than 100,000 lights spread between an 80-foot vaulted tunnel above the new pedestrian and cycle bridge in front of the Hobby Center, and other arches of constellation on the promenade at Sam Houston Park and across from the Downtown Aquarium. There will also be 3D trees at the Town Hall and giant illuminated angel wings at the Central Library.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on November 19 with remarks from Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, followed by the official turning on of the lights. This evening will feature live music, food and drink, a craft area and petting zoo, roaming singers, tours of historic homes, and photo-worthy pop-ups along Bagby Street.

The lights will come on nightly at dusk until January 2.

Winter Wanderland marks the end of the Bagy Street improvement project from a multimodal corridor with more walkways, a bike path and beautification elements.
